Kokomi blinks up in shock from where she sits at the food court table, an Aunty Anne’s pretzel tucked between her teeth like a cute hamster, and when she registers Gorou’s words, she slowly begins chewing. He stands before her, frazzled and blinking wildly at his own admission. His words hang heavy in the air, in the otherwise vacant food court, and he fidgets nervously at the realness of them.
When she swallows, she finally says something. “Itto.”
Gorou nods.
“Your Itto. Best friend Itto…Itto who you swore you could never have feelings for Itto?”
“Yes, Kokomi. That Itto.”

Itto and Gorou have been friends for years- spending every moment of their youth together. Come college, Gorou can't help but notice how buff Itto has gotten after showing sudden interest in working out. It does funny things to Gorou's brain, and after a period of internal suffering and agony, Gorou realizes hidden feelings about their friendship he never bothered to before.

"The world moved on, but not for Alhaitham.
It got to the point where it wasn't like he was purposefully waiting, but the years passed and buried him along with his feelings. It was more like he couldn't grasp the idea that the world could go on without Kaveh, and everything just stopped making any sense until the day they would meet again."
