“What are you girls even talking about?” He questioned, brows furrowing in confusion. “Marriage? Why would Qifrey and I get married?” Although he was confused, he couldn’t help the fluttering in his chest.
Being married to the Ateliers master was only something he dreamed of, a dream he had pushed so far down he rarely thought of it until moments of domesticity with the Witch of Water caused his mind to drift, and him to have boyish dreams once again.
Tetia sighed dramatically, twirling a strand of pink, curly hair around her finger. “It’s so obvious! Master Qifrey and Master Olly are partners.” She was cut off abruptly by Richeh.
“It’s true.. Master Qifrey and Olly live together and cook together; Richeh has seen a sleepover too.. Unless that was all a lie.” Her baby blue eyes narrowed at the raven-haired witch, trying desperately to read his expression of deception.
The pink-haired girl smiled brightly at the youngest girl. “See! You’ve admitted being partners! And partners usually get married; sooooo, why aren’t you and Master Qifrey married yet?” She repeated, turning back towards the male.

“Master Qifrey always keeps things a surprise.” The girl pouted briefly as Olruggio tamed down some of her curls. “If I ask you sincerely, surely you won’t lie to me!” She smiled so brightly that it rivaled even the sun.
The two adults shared a quiet chuckle, and the watchful eye shook his head. “Nah, we don’ have nothin’ planned.” Tetia sighed dramatically as she sat down at the dining table, leaning on her palm as Qifrey placed the plates full of food onto the table.
“Love, sit down, I’ll put breakfast out,” the raven-haired witch spoke as he slid next to the master, warm hand caressing over his lower back towards his side.
Qifrey leaned into the tender touch of his partner, a soft smile gracing his lips. “Olly, I am fine. All of you are being very sweet, but I am pregnant, not incapable.” The water witch’s smile grew as Olruggio pressed his lips against the warmth of his cheek, the scratchy hair of Olruggio’s beard itching at his jaw.

After years of circling each other, the Silverwood was burned out, and everything else remained.
So when Olruggio kindly asked if they could be something more, Qifrey accepting was only natural. For him, it was everything else that was hard: the trauma of the Silverwood, the years of lost experiences, the new scars and the old ones. He never expected to get that far. But when he said he would take back what was stolen from him, he meant all of it—Olruggio included.

Those ocean blue eyes suddenly lit up like a floatglow lamp, and Olruggio’s revelation barely registered in Qifrey’s head.
“I beg your pardon?”
“You heard me,” Olruggio gave Qifrey a blank look, “I can give you a massage. Y’know, like you sometimes do for me when I just finished a deadline. We should still have some of that massage oil.”
Or, Qifrey got body pains from doing housework, and Olruggio offered to give him a massage, but things didn't go as either of them expected.

It starts, as so many things seem to, with Qifrey being absolutely miserable. It's not the ever present ache of his missing eye that used to follow him every waking second, nor the quiet underlying sense of dread that had never left him, cultivated by his own design to keep the silvertree roots at bay before the medics at the healing spire has cut him open and removed it with a precision no one thought possible. No, this was an entirely different sort of misery, one that was so mundane it bordered on comical in contrast to what he had endured.
Qifrey, quite plainly, is sick.
