    Steve Rogers hates James Barnes. The feeling’s mutual; their families have been at war for longer than they’ve been alive. But King Odin has had enough. He orders the two of them wed to end the fighting.

    It’s not enough that they have to look at each other’s faces without spitting; the King has declared the year’s tournament in their honor. They’ll have to lead the events together. They’ll be wed in front of everyone.

    They’ll have to share a gods-be-damned bed.

    And if being married to their worst enemy wasn’t enough, now there’s rumors of assassins and talk of a new war and somehow, Steve and Bucky find themselves in the middle of it all. They’re going to have to set aside their hatred long enough to stay alive. And if they start to realize that they might have feelings for each other?

    It might not be soon enough.

As he journeys closer and closer to the Great Dragon, his fear of the Old God gives way to something else entirely.

    The moment Steve’s fingers wrap around the metal, Bucky lets out a gasp as if he’s just been punched in the gut, and drops back down onto one knee with a sway that threatens to make him topple over. However, when Steve moves to help, Bucky flinches, shaking Steve’s hand off with a startled yelp.
    “Don’t touch me!” he growls.

     

    Something is obviously wrong with Bucky's arm, but he still refuses to let anyone look at it. Steve suspects foul play, and goes to confront his friend about it. Only, when he finally finds Bucky, the truth turns out to be much, much worse than Steve ever suspected.

    Steve gets out of the hospital in two days, but just barely. “I’m fine,” he tells Sam, Nurse Eunjung and the phalanx of doctors assigned to make sure Captain America didn’t bleed out and die and get bad PR all over their nice clean hospital. “I have an advanced healing factor. It’s fine. See? I’m standing.”

    “That is not standing,” Sam tells him.

    “You’re bending the IV stand,” Nurse Eunjung adds pointedly. “Let go and sit down, they don’t grow on trees.”
