Charles levels him with a penetrating gaze. “If you really think so, then you’ve never paid attention to a thing I’ve said.” He folds the napkin he had crumpled in his hand. “If that was the truth, I wouldn’t be sitting here. I wouldn’t be ‘laying around my apartment all day’. I’d be winning races for Ferrari.”

Charles never pictured a life outside motorsports, even on Sunday nights when he rested his head against the upright piano in the dark, fingers drifting across the keys, waiting for races to end—eyes on his phone, heart mid-flight over Shanghai, Austin, Abu Dhabi, wherever Max was that weekend.

The only issue is that Will is a constant presence, and he hasn't had alone time in three years.
It ends up not being an issue at all.
