Summary
As he watched the quiet twitch of Erik’s nostrils, Istvan thought about killing him. It’d be easy; he was defenseless. Erik slept in his armor should their pursuers catch up with them in the night, but his head and neck were exposed. A knife could so easily pierce that fragile skin, spill the blood Istvan could near see pumping just under the surface. It wouldn’t be the first time Istvan had bled a man to death in his sleep nor would it be the last. The knife had always sat right in his palm.
Killing him would be the smart thing to do. No more point of weakness, no more leverage against him. Nothing for Hanush or Radzig or any other pompous idiot to hold over him. No more questions of his true ambition. It’s what Istvan would have done before he met Erik, ruthlessly cutting any fat off his life.
Carefully, he removed his glove one finger at a time and put his hand to Erik’s throat.

Summary
“The only thing we can do now is sit and wait to hear from Odette.”
“I know.” Richie wiped his sweaty palms again. “I know.”
Finishing his beer with a tilt, Jim crushed the can in his hand and stood to toss it. Wondered how Richie’s jeans still had any color for all the stress they were being put through as he turned to address him over the kitchen counter. “Well, given we’re both dead men stuck in our grave of a trailer for the time being, why don’t we find something to take your mind off it for the time being?"
“What did you have in mind? Gin rummy?”
“If that’s what you want,” Jim drawled, smoothing down his shirt as he leaned against the wood column marking the room. “But we’ve got some time to kill, and it has been a while since I’ve seen you.”

Summary
Erik was seven the first time he saw a man die. Or somewhere around that age. He’d never been too good at counting the winters. His mother used to laugh when he’d pause and think about it, try to recall when last he remembered.
It was too young, Erik had thought at the time. He worried he was missing something, worried seeing that death would reveal it.
Too old to hide from it, his father said. Death came for them all one day, and it was better to take it head on. No son of his would cower from it, no matter the age.

Summary
Elishka looked over the graves solemnly. "Death is an ugly thing."
"Yes," he said, "it is."
"How can you handle so much of it?"
"I do what I can to respect it. Make it clean and quick; dignified as I can." The graves were awash with the red of the setting sun. "It is ugly, but it needn't be cruel."
"All death is cruel." Pain was heavy in her voice, and he knew he'd made a misstep. So many in her life were gone, taken away from her without anything she could do. He'd played a part in that as well.
Hermann didn't say anything but reached out his hand, slowly, and took hers from where it wrapped around his arm to hold it firmly in his own. They stood as such, in silence, two figures pressed together in the setting light until Hermann had to walk them down the hilltop from memory.

Summary
“You don’t have to say yes, but I’m happy to do it if you want.”
And it’s not that Jim hadn’t thought about it, of course he had. From the first time Richie had grinned over at him at the town hall meeting, stars in his eyes when Jim had introduced himself, following him all over town before Jim finally confessed to also be investigating Tooley’s death. He hadn’t been cruised that hard in a while, and he’d grown quite fond of Richie in the short time they’d known each other, been surprised by him more than once, and impressed even more.
“Well, I’m not going to say no.”
Richie got to his knees in the carpet.

Summary
"Dennis," Jim drawled, "you're playing a dangerous game coming to me dressed like that."
Dennis sputtered in his coffee, pulling his body back and bringing his head forward just in time to avoid spilling it all over himself. With one hand wiping his chin clean, he looked forlornly at the droplets on the ground.
"What?" A glance down at his worn work trousers, the wool pilling at the thighs. His jacket had been ditched hours ago, the white collared shirt rolled up to the elbows, his now thirteen hour shift evident in the deep wrinkles along the shoulders and waist. He was surprised it was still tucked in. "This?"
A lopsided grin, relaxed and teasing and all too Jim. His heel tapped once against the table he was half-sitting on. "Yeah." Jim walked a finger up Dennis' tie, hooked it in the loose knot, and tugged the detective forward a step. Half empty Styrofoam cup held aloft to his right, left hand hanging dumbly at his side, Dennis felt Jim's knuckle settle into the hair on his sternum just above the collar of his white undershirt, exposed by the buttons he'd freed hours ago. "This."

Or Jim and Dennis toe the line of their relationship and then kind of dive across it together.

Summary
Oscar had to admit aside from everything else, it certainly was convenient. No more showing a girl around town, wining and dining, hoping by the third date they’d invite him up or come back to his place and ignore the mess. No more striking out and lonely nights. Felix’s door was a few quick strides from his own, the couch a few from the dinner table. Though Felix had cautioned against further messing around on the couch.
“We’re not getting any younger, Oscar!” he’d said. “You know how my back is, and you’re liable to pull a hamstring or upset your ulcer being so rigorous right after eating.”
To his point, he’d had to reset Felix's back more times than he could count in the last month, and Felix had had to nurse Oscar’s ulcer just the week before. Maybe the bed would have to suffice going forward. But still, not a bad commute.

Summary
“Come and join us, priest.” The woman Athelstan had heard called Lagertha stood before him, wrapped in fur with skin peaking out around the edges. Ragnar was beside her, naked as the day he was born, eyes glistening in the candlelight. Athelstan had lived closely with his brother monks, labored and lived in close proximity, so he was no stranger to the naked male form, though less familiar with one of Ragnar’s physique; hard and toned from the labor of battle as well as the field, but Athelstan had never seen so much of a woman before.
Ragnar was beside him before he noticed the move, stretched along the wall to gaze at his wife from Athelstan’s angle. “She is beautiful, yes?” Though his face was turned away, Athelstan figured what look was upon the man’s face as Lagertha directed it right back to her husband. “You want to touch her?” Ragnar turned back to him as he asked, sharp blue eyes piercing him through the dark.
He wanted to touch her. Forgive me, Lord.

Summary
Adam didn’t care about football. Between school and work and searching for Glendower, he just didn’t have the time to care. Of course, it was plausible that he didn’t care because his father had cared too much. It was also plausible that he didn’t care because he liked not to think about the incredulous wads of money football players made simply for throwing pigskin around while he struggled to cover rent.
In any case, Adam didn’t care. Which made it all the while more confusing as to why he had just walked through Aglionby’s football field’s gate entrance.tl;dr Ronan and Gansey join the Aglionby football team and adam and ronan's Feelings surge ft. Ronan in football pants
