Summary
Astarion scoffs, red eyes wide and pointed with panic. “Oh, don't be so sickeningly morose. They’re dead anyway. They probably died quickly and painfully and went straight to Lunia, the lucky bastards-”
He doesn't even get to finish the sentence before Wyll is hauling back and socking him in the face.

Summary
Watching her go, he made up his mind to undertake one small act of bravery. Nothing foolhardy, certainly nothing heroic—if anything, it was closer to insurance. But considering that it made his throat feel like it was closing up in a quite different way, he credited it as an act of bravery all the same.
In the preparation for the battle with Cazador, Astarion has some matters to discuss with Karlach and Jaheira.
Or, support can come in many different ways.

Summary
Gale takes in the sharp smile, the spark in his eyes. He’s not afraid or outraged. He’s not even particularly unsettled. This is a sort of sport for Astarion.
“But I’ve already had my breakfast today.” Gale cocks his head to the side. “You know, I was up late last night as well. I didn’t hear any rummaging through the camp supplies. But I did hear someone shuffle out of their tent and return an hour later.”
“Mm, how odd,” Astarion hums, playing his fingers against the right side of the blade. “Maybe our gith friend got homesick and wanted to give her family a wave.”
“Careful, Astarion,” Gale drops his voice lower, quieter. “I do not play games I cannot win. And answers do not tend to hide from me for very long. Not if I’m looking for them.”
aka Gale and Astarion both have secrets and are quite bad at keeping them from each other.

Summary
With this new sensation, this beautiful sight, he has been distracted from noticing something was missing.
Something has been absent since the worm entered his eye.
The voice, Cazador’s voice. It’s gone.
It’s gone.
It’s gone.
Astarion reels up to his feet, stumbling on the uneven ground in his fine shoes.
Even in his dreams, even in the deepest of trances, Astarion can feel Cazador. The orders, the rules, that tug in his gut that pulls him, like a fish on a hook, back to the palace when he wanders too far. But it’s quiet.
Astarion’s head has never had more physical occupants but has never been so quiet.
His world hasn’t been this foreign in nearly 200 years, but that's what makes him realize with extreme clarity.
Astarion is wide awake.
AKA: Astarion finds himself far from home, safer than he's been in centuries, yet in more danger than ever. If he's going to keep this scrap of freedom he's going to need to fight for it, and he's going to need protection. Thankfully, a war criminal from the hells seems to fancy him. Best of all? She can’t be touched.

“What the hells did you do that for?” He growled.
Karlach shook her head in exasperation. “And, of course! Of course, you’re mad at me. How about a ‘thank you?’ Astarion?” She shifted and leaned on one leg, looking at him with a huff.
“A thank you? You must be joking.” His heart was ramming against his chest, but it was slowing, calming. Even as his anger rose.
Karlach let out a long breath. “Well, if I ruined your fun, I’m sorry. But it seemed like you needed a hand.”
She was right.
“I don't need your fucking help.”
Karlach has joined the party, but her incessant positivity and zest for life have Astarion constantly on edge. He refuses to buy this act of hers. No one goes through what she had been through and comes out smiling.

Summary
Five years is a long time for a human. An eighth of Gale Dekarios’ entire existence, yet still not long enough to forget that which he desperately wishes he could. The weight of time serves only to chain him to that moment, restored and unmade simultaneously.
Five years is the blink of an eye for an elf, and hardly even that for a vampiric one. Still, Astarion Ancunin wants nothing more than to go back and play that moment in time on repeat, until he's memorized every detail. Maybe if he could, he'd finally be able to put two centuries of torment to rest.
They must decide what they're willing to do to escape their respective prisons and come to terms with what they've already done. When two sides of the same coin are melted through and forced to intermingle, they will be forced to open their eyes. Is it worth it?

Summary
"First," said Gale. "Do not kill any thinking creatures in Waterdeep unless you must to protect yourself or you have my express permission."
As Gale spoke, he could feel the weight of his words sinking into the person sitting across from him. It was like casting a spell, but took no effort. Astarion had been staring hollowly into his goblet of blood, but at this he made a faintly interested noise. As if the rule were novel and he was considering the shape of it.
"Second, you will obey me in all things," said Gale. There didn't feel like there was any honest way of softening that. Astarion didn't make any sound at all.
"Third, do not leave the tower without permission." Astarion made another speculative noise, considering this one too. But then his shoulders hunched and his eyes skittered down, as if he didn't want to look at what was about to happen.
"Fourth," Gale said, and paused. He started with some context: "There is a tressym upstairs."
Astarion's head twitched. He looked up at Gale, blinking, startled. He had the air of someone who had been bracing for a blow and instead had just been handed a balloon animal.
"A what?" he asked.

“My previous clientele are usually more particular in what it is they want protection from, you see.”
“I do,” said Astarion, his voice trailing thin. He was quiet for a moment. “Vampires.”

Summary
It was a simple idea. To share a book he enjoyed with a companion. There was no intention for it to be construed as anything other than friendly. His enthusiasm for sharing this particular book with this particular companion was merely an indication of how well they were getting on compared to their rocky start. Not that there was something about their friendship that was any less friendly than their other companions.
Yet, when Astarion flirted with him across the campfire, he found himself responding in kind.

Summary
“The world seems full of good men – even if there are monsters in it.” - Bram Stoker, Dracula
Usually, the long climb up the barren hillside means he sees any of his visitors coming long before they reach him. He knows all their faces too, by now; even the villagers who do not attend his services. This man is new.
He is well-dressed. Exceptionally well-dressed. Gale has seen neither cloth nor embroidery so fine since he arrived here. His stark white hair is precisely styled, the curls barely moving in the not inconsiderable wind.
He turns as Gale approaches. His hearing must be astonishing.
Gale almost does a double take. Though the fashion, when he was a boy, was to be pale, he has never seen a man as pale as this. His skin is like porcelain, like so many women would have killed to have been born with. There's something almost uncanny about it, in actuality. On the wind-blown clifftop, it makes him seem like a ghost. A beautiful ghost, undoubtedly. But a ghost, all the same.
“Good morning, and blessings be upon you,” Gale calls. The man’s placid expression twists, for a moment, into something like pain.- Language:

Summary
He'd never—ever—allowed himself to even daydream of something like this.
Dancing?
In the middle of Waterdeep? While he melted in his love's arms? Being crooned to?
It's almost too domestic—too sweet. A setting that would have made him uncomfortable even just a year ago, when he'd first woken up on that beach and felt the sun on his face.
It felt like a lifetime ago. Maybe a different one entirely, he thinks, as Gale sweeps his hand slow and heavy down over his spine, hums pleasantly in his ear.

After graduating from law school under the shadow of a scandal, Astarion takes an internship working for the infamous Cazador Szaar, whose law firm is notorious for getting results.
And while working for Cazador is a good way to make sure your resume won't be overlooked in the future, it comes with a price tag that Astarion is all too familiar with paying.
Thankfully, the new security guard, Wyll, has been a welcome distraction, and an even more welcome friend. And, perhaps, something more...

Summary
Astarion glares at the Dekarios manor. It is, despite all of his irritation, quite the most beautiful building he has ever beheld. Its existence does go quite some way to explaining why Mr Dekarios had, before Astarion laid his reasoning quite so thoroughly at his feet, been so surprised to be refused.
What more could a man want from a marriage than a handsome partner, good fortune, and well-appointed estate?
Other than respect, of course.Yes this is a Pride and Prejudice plus magic fic, in which Gale is Darcy and Astarion is Elizabeth (to begin with). Beginning just after Astarion turns down Gale's proposal.

“How did you even get in? I very definitely remember locking up.”
“Ah,” Gale looks ever-so-slightly abashed. Only slightly, though. Mostly he looks a little proud of himself. “You know how the receptionist is always asleep?”
Astarion's eyebrows shoot up.
“Gale Dekarios, you shady thing.”
“I only borrowed it! He's never been awake enough to ask about spares, so. It was easier to just sort it out myself.”
“It would have been easier to ask me,” Astarion points out.
“Mmmm,” Gale hums, doubtfully. “I don't know if I'd ever consider you the ‘easier’ option, Astarion, I feel that would be doing your commitment to cantankerousness a great disservice.”
I'd be extremely easy if you weren't so fucking annoying, Astarion thinks.

Summary
The only thing Gale knows about Baldur's Gate is that his closest friend packed up and left for it thirteen years ago and never returned. On a quest to find a dead man's enchanted heirloom for his goddess, Gale instead finds that very same friend six feet underground, with sharp teeth and cherry red eyes.
A wild thing, skittish and starving, with bared fangs and bloody claws; Astarion hardly recognises his wizard standing above him with a shovel and a slack jaw, gazing down at him like he just struck gold.
Alternatively: a childhood friends to lovers AU where Astarion becomes one of the "main 7" spawns much later on-- closer to the ritual-- and Gale is one lucky duck.

Astarion and his companions prevented Cazador from completing the Ascension, but his former master escaped before they could strike a killing blow. Now, in the wake of the Absolute's defeat, Astarion has no choice but to wait and see what form Cazador's revenge might take.
