Further hidden in the safety of the dark, Shannon could barely make out large, wet eyes staring at him, not even daring to blink.

    Annoyingly, the pain only gets worse when he tries to sit down on the edge of the bathtub. He really hopes his leg isn’t broken—they don’t have the resources to deal with something that serious.

    Plus, he would fucking hate to be dead weight. He barely does enough already. Driver’s the one who gets them from town to town. Driver’s the one who makes sure their supplies don’t dwindle. Driver’s the one who stops him from dying when he inevitably fucks up.

    The annoying part is Driver probably wouldn’t even leave him behind if he truly was dead weight. The asshole would probably try to do everything himself and get killed.

    Luke tries not to think about the irony.

    "Why are you giving me a model of a 1974 Chevrolet Malibu?" Driver asks as softly as always, holding the box dearly.

    "It's your car, right?" Colt answers with a proud grin, "I thought you'd enjoy it. I had to go to this antique shop and ask around and everything—"

    "Mine's a 1973 Malibu." Driver corrects, still holding the box in his hands. Even if it's the wrong model his palms hold it so very gently, afraid of ruining the wrapping with a single scratch.
