    Summary

Kaveh knew he was trans for years. He'd never told anyone, except his own mother, and Alhaitham. He almost had the confidence to come out publicly. Then the fight breaking up their friendship changed his thoughts. Once Kaveh, and Alhaitham had a falling out, Kaveh had gotten back into the closet.

Kaveh had gone to school to become an architect, getting into a one-sided love marriage once he graduated. Not long after he found out he was pregnant.

Once they had divorced, he transitioned, he became tired of faking his life. He had his life to focus on, especially for his own daughter, Mehrak.

    One commission he wasn't expecting.

He had to design a home for Alhaitham. Maybe there's a chance he didn't remember him.

“Do you even know how to act besotted?”

Alhaitham’s brows furrow. For a second, Kaveh wonders if he’s finally managed to stump the great Acting Grand Sage. And then… “I’ll manage.”

A groan. “Of course you will.” Another fidget of his foot. “Were the wedding papers really necessary, though?”

… Perhaps he ought to explain that part, too.

Or, Kaveh reads a top-secret report on Alhaitham's desk and insists that they take matters into their own hands, which somehow leads to them signing marriage papers and going undercover in Mondstadt.

    Summary

Kaveh expects some offhandedly smug, smooth remark from Alhaitham about how Kaveh’s his senior but never acts like it, or how it was the most logical outcome given the circumstances and he’s being a child for debating with him about it. But he just mumbles, low and almost petulant, “It is what it is.” He won’t meet Kaveh’s eyes. “You can’t move out.”

Kaveh balks at him before rubbing at his face furiously. “You can’t be serious. You can’t be serious,” he laughs, almost delirious. There’s no way his luck has reached this new low. He knows the ascended heroes on Celestia are guffawing at his misfortune. “Why would you do that when you’ve always wanted me to leave anyway?”

Alhaitham stares at him for a long moment before sighing, slipping into his seat and sliding his plate of Kaveh’s carefully constructed Fatteh towards him primly. “Why indeed,” he drones, sounding exhausted. “Why indeed.”

or: in which there’s a cohabitation clause in sumeru city’s body of legislation; a pair who lives together for longer than six months, files taxes together, and presents as a couple are considered married by law. who knew. (alhaitham, apparently.)

    Summary

Kaveh grew up healthy and happy with parents who loved him, who strived to give him everything they possibly could. The Interdarshan Championship rolled around a few months before Kaveh’s 8th birthday and he begged his father to go. He was apprehensive at first but seeing the sparkle in his son’s eyes, he gave in and started writing a letter of correspondence to the Akademiya.

Kaveh and his mother saw him off at the Akademiya, the blond covering his eyes as his parents share a sweet kiss. He watches his father join a small group of Rtawahist scholars, the blue of their darshan badges reflecting the early morning sunlight. Kaveh’s chest aches but brushes it off, he’ll miss his father but they will see each other soon.

It is no one's fault but Kaveh’s that his father was buried in the sands of Hadramaveth, never to be seen again.

    Or;
Kaveh, with his unquantifiable guilt, falling out, and falling back in.

    Summary

“...what type of person could have the Grand Sage of Sumeru wrapped around his finger.”

    Hm?

He knew it was wrong to listen in on a potentially private conversation, but Kaveh’s curiosity took over his decisions. Alhaitham never told him anything anymore, he rationalized. He just wanted to make sure he was forming good relationships with his friends. That was all.

His decision to eavesdrop had nothing to do with this mysterious person who allegedly had Alhaitham of all people wrapped around his finger. Nope. Not one bit.

After saving Sumeru, Alhaitham and Dehya hang out every month to catch up (read: gossip) as friends do. And if that gossip happens to be about Alhaitham’s hopeless crush on his roommate, then so be it.

One day, Kaveh happens to overhear.
