Summary
When Ash starts drinking during his time with Kukui, he doesn't think about it, and he doesn't see the signs that this is a problem bigger than either of them are willing to admit.
Or, an exploration about how when kids leave home at 10 years old and are left unsupervised, they'll drink, and how sometimes it's easier to deal with life if you're drunk, and sometimes it's easier not to acknowledge the fact you're slowly turning into a functional alcoholic.

Summary
When Kukui realises that Ash is having nightmares, he needs to do something. After bonding and talking, Ash agrees to go to therapy, but that doesn't fix all of Ash's problems, and healing is a journey.

Summary
After an assignment, Kukui sets for homework, a week or so after Ash moves to Aloha, he realises a troubling reality - Ash struggles to spell, is borderline illiterate, and is lacking in six years of education he should have received. This is troubling for Kukui, so he plans to fix it with Ash with some extra lessons.
Or, an exploration of the effects of leaving home at 10 years old has on a child. In which leaving home at 10, with no support means that learning and education become less of a priority when you are trying to survive on the roads at age 10, with other children and teenagers.
