    Summary

An AU where Buck and Eddie met in El Paso during their senior year at high school.
The series covers 20 years of their lives and consists of the following stories:

Book II: The Crucible Sands (2011-2014)
Book III: The City of Angels (2014-2029)
    * Epilogue: The Stygian Shore (alternate epilogue)

    * reading the epilogue is optional. If you prefer a HAPPY ending, feel free to SKIP it - it was never part of the original plan, so the main story stands perfectly on its own.

    Summary

When he eventually returned to LA, things had settled. Athena had managed to knock some sense into Bobby and he was finally welcomed back to the 118 with open arms. He was home. But he couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. It was like playing the guitar once again had awoken something in him he’d buried long ago. So, the night after his first shift back, he went out and bought a new guitar.
For months he played in the comfort of his own home, not yet confident enough to share with the 118. He still played for Maddie though, enjoying the smile on her face as his fingers plucked the strings. He'd missed it. Music made him feel complete

    Summary

"Eddie," Buck breathes, almost a sigh as he drops his head, and Eddie can tell he's ready to drop it even if he wants to talk about it because he'll follow him.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asks, leaning closer to Buck, and he glances at him, "I have nowhere else to be, and I know you were just following my lead with this, we can talk about it all if you want," Eddie offers, trying to show him how serious he is about it but Buck just looks skeptical.
"I don't know, man," Buck shakes his head, picking at the label of his beer, clearly wanting to say something but not knowing if it's his place to say it.
“So here's what we're gonna do, the shit we've been through that you keep telling yourself didn't happen to you so you have no right to feel anything about it? You're gonna tell me how you felt about it anyway," Eddie says, turning on his chair so he's facing Buck fully and watching as Buck mirrors his movement, places his beer on the counter, and rubs his thighs before speaking.

    Summary

Eddie especially likes to think he knows Buck the best.

They’re best friends, afterall. Even in the space of just a few months Eddie has never felt as seen as he is by the man. Buck just gets Eddie. He makes Eddie laugh, he cares about Christopher, goes out of his way to make sure Eddie is okay when their shift is bad. They spend so much time together on and off work, nestling into comfortable routines and habits that Eddie isn’t sure how he functioned without it.

So, it comes as a big shock when Eddie learns something new.

“Who drew this?” He points to a piece of paper pinned to the fridge, a flower drawn in meticulous detail Eddie’s pretty sure he can almost see the way water travels up the shoot of its roots.

“Buck,” Hen replies without looking up from her and Chimney’s card game.

    {or a slight au where Buck can draw and Eddie is a little undone by it}
