Summary
It's the summer after the gang's first year of grad school and Lafayette is off to France, Hercules is off to parts unknown, and John and Alex are moving into their own apartment. With three months on their own and few obligations, they're looking forward to spending their days studying ghosts, working on their own projects, and being disgustingly in love. And that's certainly how the summer starts--hanging out with Molly, going to baseball games, having lunch with Alex's foster brother, and going on trips with von Steuben and his harem fill the first few weeks of summer, a steady stream of fun to distract them from the rest of the world.
But the world has a way of getting in, and after John drops sharply into a deep depression, Alex is left to try and figure out what's wrong with him and why it hit him so suddenly. With their friends thousands of miles away and John alternating between refusing to get out of bed and putting himself in mortal danger, Alex struggles to get to the bottom of John's trauma before he hurts himself or worse.

Harry looks at him, his eyes narrowing as an amused, coy smile creeps onto his lips. "They say it’s haunted. Loads of rumours are going around town," he chuckles and rubs below his nose, giving a single shoulder shrug.
Louis laughs breathily. "I mean…" he draws the word out, his gaze bouncing around the room, "I kinda get it," he settles on saying, recalling last night when it was quiet, his room shadowed and set in silvery moon light, giving it a haunted kind of appearance.
Harry’s eyebrows shoot up, perplexity colouring his pale face. "Do you?"
Or, the one where Louis is a simple guy - all he wants from his summer break is to spend some quality time with his mother, get to know her new husband, and learn to play the guitar. Nothing out of the ordinary, that is for sure. However, life has a funny way of working and when Louis finds a strange boy sitting on his bed one sunny day, his summer break takes a turn for the better (or worse) when he discovers a ghost has stolen his heart from the get-go.

Harry is a witch from a long line of power, an ancient line that’s one of the strongest left alive in their hemisphere. He can cast spells without a word if need be, fly on a broomstick, and has a black cat (a kitten, really) named Felix that is his animal familiar. He can shape galaxies in his cupped hands and can destroy them just as easily. He can choose exactly how to use his power, for encouragement and support, or for more nefarious causes if he wishes to.
And as fate would have it, he’s scared of haunted houses.
(Harry is a witch who carries around a stuffed pumpkin, Louis is a vampire with too much time on his hands, and their best mates Zayn & Niall aren't exactly what they seem...)
