Summary
Season 5 spoliers
It was summer as it always was.
There was only one small, glaring, unignorable difference.
It was their last summer together, one last summer, then they were all going their separate ways, maybe until school ended, maybe forever.
Three months, then no more late nights in the arcade, no more bike rides to get florescent red and blue slushies, or d&d campaigns that take weeks to finish. It was time to grow up and move on, and everyone seemed ready, except for Mike.
He sat in his room staring at a blank page, a pile of crumpled-up drafts next to him, ink staining his hand. In front of him, Will's painting. He looked at himself, brave enough to fight a dragon, but the real Mike wasn't even brave enough to write a letter.
Mike had written it over and over, but it never sounded right. He wished he could take his brain out of his head and hand it to Will, letting him read every thought that had passed through it since they met.
Or Mike tries to confess to Will before its too late, but struggles to overcome his internalized homophobia.

Summary
(Knight) Mike Wheeler / (Sorcerer) Will Byers
Discarded by Arthur and his court, Sir Mike Wheeler, a destitute knight, finds help in a mysterious sorcerer he met by the river's edge.
Sorcerer, Will the Wise, offers a deal where Mike is given anything he desires as long as he keeps Will's existence a secret. The two become fast friends, finding respite from their loneliness in each other. But secrets loom, and court drama threatens the delicate balance of their relationship.
Or very corny medieval fantasy byler.
Inspired by Marie De France's Lanval (loosely)
