Summary
I wrote this story for the Halloween special over at the Royal Academy of Bards and thought I'd cross-post it here. It takes place between Seasons 2 and 3, after A Comedy of Eros. (In other words, after Xena and Gabi have started having feelings for each other, but before the Rift comes along to knock things off the rails.) I used the Eleusenian Mysteries (a real life festival celebrated late in the year) as a starting point and moved on to Sisyphus's castle, reasoning that its traps and trickery made it resemble a haunted house. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean Sisyphus is the villain of the piece; after all, this is a Halloween story, so things may not be what they seem ...

Summary
In Sins of the Past, Gabrielle's father says the Poteidaians have "heard about" Xena, which suggests she never conquered Poteidaia when she was taking over towns in the area; maybe she didn't see them as a threat, or maybe they voluntarily sent tribute, but she seems to have bypassed them in her march. This story takes place in an alternate history where Xena did conquer Poteidaia, thus meeting Gabrielle ten years earlier. Fans (and the show) have often speculated about what path Xena's life would've taken if she'd met Gabi in her formative years and this is my take on that possibility. There's no hint of romance, since Gabi's just a kid (I figure Gabi's about 9 or 10 years old here and Xena is 17 or 18), but there's definitely a connection between them. We never got to see the younger version of Gabi (or the pre-warlord version of Xena) on the show, so I hope I made their "voices" sound authentic.

Summary
This story is set about a year after A Friend in Need and is about how Gabi brings Xena back from the dead. I don't hate Friend in Need as much as some fans do (technically, it's quite well done and does bring both Xena and Gabi's character arcs to logical conclusions), but I do hate the fact that Xena and Gabi don't get a happy ending ... they certainly earned one. I read somewhere that the creators were planning on doing a series of Xena movies after the show ended, which must mean they were planning on bringing Xena back somehow. So if the creators were thinking about it, that makes it (almost) Canon as far as I'm concerned. Gabi's mention of going to Egypt in the last episode made me think of the Egyptian Book of the Dead and how souls/hearts were judged in the afterlife, which I thought would be a great way to bring Xena back.

Summary
This story was inspired by Gabi mentioning a "Test Day" in Warrior ... Princess (and by how she assumed Xena was testing her in Warrior ... Priestess ... Tramp). I figure Xena is teaching Gabi her many skills between episodes and probably tests her periodically to make sure the lessons are getting through. Xena probably throws in surprise Test Days (like pop quizzes) to make sure Gabi's always ready for anything. This story is about a Test Day that goes off the rails a bit; it's set early in the second season (before Return of Callisto), so I feel like Xena is definitely in love with Gabi at this point, but Gabi still hasn't quite figured that out yet.

Summary
There are times in the show where we see Xena and Gabrielle doing something for the third or fourth time. But rarely do we see the first time that they do these things together.
These are a series of short pieces about some of the first times that Xena and Gabrielle do things during the first season that later become quite normal.Bookmarked by MS_Wilson

Episode tags and missing scenes between Xena and Gabrielle over the years. (Or: what I’ve started doing instead of just yelling “KISS HER, DAMN IT” at the TV.)
