In truth, Mydei had nothing but admiration for Phainon. That man had the world in the palm of his hand, a boy from a small village moving to the city to chase his dream, those were the kinds of stories that movies were made of. He had found his success at The Grand Chrysos, making a name for himself and the village that he had come from, praising the local cuisine of Aedes Elysiae. He had built himself up from nothing with his own two hands, and Mydei would not deny that he was envious of Phainon’s journey.
He, in return, had his life served to him on a silver platter. A set path, no need to worry about money, no need to chase his true ambitions or desires. If he had wished to stay to his path then he would have slipped through his life in a breeze, never knowing or feeling anything real.
Phainon was real, Mydei was sure of that.
