Part 1: New York City and then England
When Part 1 (chapters 1-7) of this story opens, Simon and Daphne have just shared their first kiss and then begin to figure out what a relationship will look like for them. After years of having feelings for each other but not being in the same place, some of their decisions surprise even themselves. Then there's the matter of when and how to tell the rest of the Bridgertons that they're a couple. The timing could be tricky with the Christmas holiday approaching. Perhaps a ruse to conceal their relationship will be a means of reintroducing Simon to the family without yet revealing that they're together.Part 2 (expected to be ready for Christmas) will be at Aubrey Hall for the Bridgerton Christmas.

Summary
Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, ended his arrangement with Daphne Bridgerton, after convincing himself it was best for her to be with the prince who would give Daphne the family and children that he could not. The duke would soon depart England and is determined to avoid thoughts of her until he can put many miles between them. But when Simon accidentally overhears Anthony Bridgerton's comment about his sister, Simon's thoughts turn to her again. While Simon can keep at least some waking thoughts of her away, he cannot stop his dreams from featuring Daphne as their main inhabitant.
His dream spurs him to action and he embarks on a quest to win Daphne, with her guiding him along the way. The quest creates chances for them to know each other more deeply and for lots of interaction with the entire Bridgerton family.
The couple faces some challenges along their path, both from circumstances and their own struggles, but face them together on their way to their Happily Ever After.

Summary
After Simon ends their ruse on a sunny April morning in 1813, Daphne becomes disillusioned with love. Her heart is broken; the realities of life are harsher than what she expected. Her dreams of finding a love match and living happily ever after seem like nothing but childish notions now. So, she chooses another path.
What happens when you connect with someone on a deep level, but lose them? Do you move on from that feeling, do you spend the rest of your days hunting that feeling, or do you wait for the person who granted you that feeling?
Warning: This is a very, very messy, and a very, very sad take on “What would have happened?”. It’s a scale up from the mild angst in my canon-adjacent fics, so be warned, dear reader. Proceed at your own risk.
