Summary
His burial shroud.
The only thing save the clothes on his back he had to his name. That he would ever have to his name.
He can’t say whether he hates that more, or the fact that somehow the wretched thing provides him with some measure of comfort.
After all, even in its frayed, threadbare state, it was undeniably his. And it was proof that someone at some point had cared. Cared enough for him to wrap him in it and bury him in it. Even if they had never learned the truth to find him, to save him. Even if he couldn’t remember their name or face. Someone had cared for him once, enough to give him this one final gift.
***
Astarion has spent two hundred years, broken and beaten, with nothing to his name but the clothes upon his back and the shroud he was buried with. And then mindflayers of all things answer his prayers for rescue. The odd little group he finds himself apart of is led by a tiefling trying so hard to be good despite their violent thoughts with hoarding habits that could rival a dragons, and Astarion forms a nice simple plan. Except the strange druid keeps giving him things and being far too nice, and, well, it's only a matter of time before that "nice simple plan" falls apart.Series

Summary
He woke up, like always.
As he pulled himself further from the water and coughed up acid, bile, and blood onto the sand, he had never hated that fact more. The tadpole was still wriggling, very alive in his brain. Of course. Had his throat not still burned from expelling the poison, he might have laughed. He survived falling thousands of feet by some strange magic and had turned to his own hand to hopefully escape this nightmare.
But even now, the gods would not show him mercy.
--- --- ---
Conor has had a rough few centuries before ending up with a tadpole in his brain. With a body incapable of permanently dying and always healing, his fear is not turning into an illithid but that he might be stuck turning into one over and over again until he can pry it out and continue his research into what was done to him. At least this group seems to keen on helping each other, and the other resident elf is fun to snark with.Series

The first memory he recovers does not in fact come from the images in the Sheikah Slate. Nor does it come from Impa, or the King’s story, or even seeing the Calamity for the first time. It’s not even the first time they fight.

Summary
Their plan had been to head to Kakariko as soon as they arrived, where they could explain the situation. Kakariko because they knew the Sheikah better than they knew anyone else at this point, and they would understand the proof of their claims that they had brought.
But then they were kneeling alone in long grass and stone instead of a field of fire, under a bright, clear sky instead of the night’s rain, and the castle loomed overhead.
Or at least, what was left of it.
Around them were collapsed buildings and dead trees being overtaken by greenery and Guardians, seemingly frozen in time.
Castle Town. They’d arrived in the heart of a ruined Castle Town, the very thing they’d been planning to prevent.
And from there, they had to know.

Summary
Following a smidge of time-line fuckery, Gale meets a handsome stranger in the Yawning Portal - a stranger who seems to know far too much about him, to be far too invested in his life and his happiness, and to be far too attractive to let slip through his fingers.
The stranger also happens to be an incredibly welcome distraction from the otherwise miserable and confusing hellscape that is Gale Dekarios's personal life. His mother worries about him constantly, his familiar won't talk to him about anything that matters, his mentor won't tell him anything useful, and his goddess is making cryptic and increasing demands.
OR: Gale meets a handsome vampire in 1487 who seems deadset on making all his problems go away, with some strings attached.

Summary
At night, alone in his bedroll, Astarion’s mind wanders. Away from himself, his body, his own recursive and increasingly irritating patterns of thought—it wanders and it wanders until it, eventually, ends up back where it started. Astarion on his knees, entertaining someone else.
He has spent two hundred years fantasizing about freedom—ludicrous dreams, where he is fed, where he is warm, where he parts Cazador’s head from his neck with his fangs—the stupidest, most basic, crudest ideas of what he might do if only he had the power to control himself. And now that he has that control, he fantasizes about someone taking it away again.
Specifically, he fantasizes about Wyll.
For some time, now, Astarion has fantasized about Wyll Ravengard putting him in his place. This isn't a problem, until suddenly it is.
