Rhaenyra paused at the threshold, her fingers brushing the cold iron handle of the door.
“You’ve had your victory. You don’t need me here. There are more than enough whores eager to warm your bed. You only ever needed yourself, not me. I’ve lost my daughter. I’ve lost my father. I’ve lost my son. You’ve done enough. Had my father given me a sword, I would’ve buried it in your chest the moment you stole my crown! Don’t ever summon me here again.”
She pulled at the handle, ready to leave him behind in the hollow quiet of his stolen chambers.
“Take off your gown.”
The command hit her like a thrown stone. She froze.
“…What?”
“I summoned you as your King,” Daemon said behind her, his voice cool and unhurried. “Take it off. And get on the bed.”
Daemon knelt before Rhaenyra. He swore himself to her cause, her crown, and her heart. But in the end, he seized the Iron Throne and tore their marriage apart.

Night has fallen since last he was conscious, and only the faintest moonlight now illuminates the coach. He is not alone in said coach. A woman rides with him. A hooded cloak conceals most of her face—that is, until she turns at the sound of his moan, lowering the fabric with small, gloved hands.
“You’re awake,” she says, expression quickly changing from worry to relief. “Oh, Colin, I’m so glad. I did worry if perhaps the blow was a bit too hard, but—”
“Penelope?”

Author's Note: This is an OLD story of mine that I started to write, got 17 chapters in, and then got total Writer’s Block, and never went back to it. I was going through my files, and found this story, and reread through it. And I decided… hey, I could publish this “Evil Author’s Day” style. And then Evil Author’s Day came, and I forgot about the idea to publish this on that day. Recently I went back to this story, remembered what my plans were, and I decided “to hell with it”.
So over the next three weeks or so, I’m going to publish a chapter a day (the first two chapters in one day as I usually do). But there are NO PROMISES that I will come back to it or finish it. I am still doing this Evil Author’s Day style. Meaning: I’m giving you the whole thing (in the span of three weeks, NOT one day), without the promise that I’ll come back to it.
