Noises of surprise ripple through the space as Cap gestures to the blond man next to him, whose face is carefully neutral. "Kinard," Richardson addresses him.
"Yes, cap?" Tommy replies, meeting his captain's steady gaze.
"Show Buckley to the locker room and help him get settled." The captain replies, and Tommy sees the instruction for what it is: getting the new kid out of the way before the fallout of his arrival hits.OR
What if Buck had actually been in the Navy? What if he had a strong team of good friends? What if he felt like he had people outside the 118? What if they convinced him to walk away instead of suing? What if he landed on the doorstep of Harbor Station instead?

Buck turned back toward Lucifer. “So Lucifer ‘proud owner of this little slice of sin’ d’ya ever go by Luci?”

Lucifer’s grin sharpened. “Only to very special people.”
“~‘Cause girl, you earned it, yeah~”
The drink Tommy handed to him nearly slipped from Buck's hand. He tried to play it off and took a slow sip. He held that intense gaze like it didn’t affect him.
“Hm, what is it you desire?” Lucifer asked, voice lower now, soft and dark like a blade dragged on silk.
Buck debated on answering the loaded question for a moment.
Finally he answered.
“To feel something real. Something that isn’t forced.”
“~We live with no lies~”
And looking into Lucifer's eyes he could see a matching longing.
“~Hey, hey, and you’re my favorite kind of night~”
