Varian wears a mask. To Yong it's of a cool older brother, to Nuru it's of a responsible team leader and to Hugo it's of a goody to shoes who could do no wrong. They don't know of the broken, unstabled creature that lurks beeneath the mask and Varian wants to keep it that way bit when certain incidents cause the mask to crack, how will the others react when they'll see the real Varian?
