Solas looks out across the river, and for a moment he is dizzy with the way the waves beckon him, the little lies they tell in every shift of the tide. He should deny it, but he finds that he cannot.
‘Most especially me,' he says heavily.Solas is a famous detective with a troubled history dating back to the wars that destroyed his homeland. When he embarks on a cruise along the Enavuris River to pursue a lead in his most recent case, he encounters a passionate love triangle which comes to a fatal end.
Complicating the tragedy is the fact that the victim Justinia, heiress to the Chantry fortune, was murdered with Solas’ own gun. And then there’s the problem of his extremely inconvenient attraction to the prime suspect, Jacqueline Lavellan.
As the cruise continues through the wilderness, rapidly approaching the Veil that separates the south of Thedas from the mysterious north, Solas races to uncover the truth before the killer can strike again.

For several days over a few weeks, Solas went back to the store always to seek Vanora out. She recognized it for what it was the more he frequented and spent money each time; always on music she suggested. Her co-workers took to teasing her over his obvious fascination and eagerness to see her and speak with her. But, he would not ask her out. Sometimes he'd linger in the store for far longer than the average person would, so much so that he became a regular that everyone who worked there knew by name though most of the time they'd just call him the bald elfy professor, thanks to Sera.

“Dread Wolf take me from behind, what a day,” she sighed, half collapsing onto the log bench shoved in front of the campfire.
Solas spluttered, inhaling his spoonful of stew instead of swallowing. He coughed harshly to dislodge the pesky piece of carrot lodged in his windpipe while Selene patted him helpfully on the back.
The tips of his ears burned a fetching bright red, paired with a bloom across both cheeks, but whether that was from her words or his near choking was anyone's guess.
“That is a…unique curse, lethallan,” he eventually got out.
“Thank you. You should try it sometime,” she said evenly.When Selene Lavellan finds herself inexplicably back at the beginning of her journey as Inquistior, she is determined to make better choices. And if one of those choices is to start harassing Solas relentlessly until he blushed like a maiden, that was her prerogative.
Only she may not be prepared for the consequences of her actions, when the teasing gets too much.
