Summary
Sonic hates it when Shadow is sent away for work, but it's so much worse when he's gone for way too long. There's only so much he can take with the absence, and he can't help but take advantage of the phone call he gets after so long. He should have known better than to think he'd get away with it.

What if Sonic was the one who found Shadow and woke him up?
After Tails studies the Master Emerald as a way to track chaos energy should anything ever happen to it, a startling discovery was made. Tracking a high amount of chaos energy from a GUN facility, the trio break into the base to check it out. And as Sonic explores, he discovers a hedgehog just like him, and is determined to set him free.
This is set after the second movie and Knuckles series. This will be a two chapter fic focused on finding Shadow and breaking him out of the GUN base, but I plan to write more for this in the future. Most likely, I’ll be making this into a series. Rated T to be safe.

He pulls away.
"T-Tea," through a quivering breath, darting to hide his red face. Squinting beneath the weight of the younger alpha’s smirk at his trembling, "I… I made some. It’s in the back. Allow me to pour us cups."
The sun begins to set beyond the warm, cream colored walls. Slipping in thin lights of pink-ish oranges that color their bodies in strips. Shadow regards him with that fond, smug look for longer than the other times.
As though weighing the option of finally giving chase to Sonic’s retreating form. He doesn’t think he could take it if he did.
Luckily, he doesn’t. And Sonic is free to go.
OR: sonic is 42, unmated, and has a small crisis. shadow is 22, unmated, and very much so is the crisis.
