"Yes, but—"
"Look, I was busy with essays, with putting this place back into mostly one piece, and dragging my servants from the spire all the way here. So, you know. Nothing personal."
Maybe they simply stopped trying to conceal the bite in their voice. It poked out the same way that a knife cuts through silks that try to hide it.
"You were avoiding me. I could've helped, somehow, I'm sure. You are just trying to find ways to divert my attention right now."
"Me?" they blinked, finger pointing at themselves. Shadow Milk's hip touched the desk, though their hands twitched. "Oh, please—"
Crossing his arms over his chest, the ancient finally stated what was to be final. "It's not going to work. I'm not leaving."

The vocalist turned his eyes away, but scoffed eventually.
"I meant that dealing with Earthtray comes at a cost of something. Chastity is one of the many things that can be traded, and since a demon themselves cannot claim it due to their absence in this realm, a killing is needed," the demon said, one hand moving up to the locks that remained spilled over his shoulders, brushing through them repeatedly. "But… it's slightly different if a demon is already present for it."
Shadow Milk was not sure where this was headed, but he was starting to become a hater of the idea long before it reached his ears.
"If…" oh, and now the demon was the one to look away, blinking away too many times, and flicking their eyes over anything that was not the man before them. "If you gave me your chastity in a ritual like the one before, I could return."
