Summary
Displaced to a location off the coast of Hawaii in the immediate aftermath of its President's disappearance, Kivotos finds itself facing a brave new world as its students and residents contend with new neighbors who are every bit as shocked. With global affairs suddenly upended and heavily-armed, superhuman new neighbors at the Hawaiian Gate, the United States of America sends in an escorted diplomatic team to ascertain the academy city-state's situation and ensure the worst does not come to pass. Amidst this, a few brave souls answer the call of duty and responsibility, determined to guide the students and others through uncertain times.
Yet as Kivotos settles into their new situation, all involved learn of both intertwined histories and things stranger still...

The Dominion War (2373-2375) was the single most destructive conflict in the known history of the Federation, and eventually entangled virtually every major power in the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Quadrants of the Milky Way. Though the UFP and its allies were able to win a decisive victory on the battlefield, that was only the beginning of the long, weary struggle to build a new and better Galaxy.
Luckily, that's what the Federation specializes in.

SUMMARY: The Pakled Crisis of 2380-2381 is by no means recalled as Starfleet’s finest hour. There are no monuments to it at Les Invalides in Paris, no mention of it on the Wall of Remembrance at Starfleet Academy in San Francisco. Terms such as “farcical” or “an embarrassment” are often used to describe the nine chaotic months in which one of the Alpha Quadrant’s most overlooked and least-notable species proved to be an enduring thorn in the side the of Federation, before self-destructing in as abrupt and bizarre a manner as it began. But it is worth taking a more intensive look at the events that brought the Pakleds to the brink of war with the Federation, and how the UFP responded. In both respects, this crisis represents a very useful case study in the enduring aftereffects of the Dominion War on the Alpha Quadrant.
