Sam's been accepted into college. Max, having failed basically all of his exams, is most certainly not. Max is happy to let Sam go off and thrive without him. Sam however refuses to let Max go so easily.

The drive to the North Pole is full of rest stops, whether it's by choice or not. Sam and Max stop by a horrible motel on the way, run into people that absolutely hate Max's policies as president, and have to drive through a merciless storm up at the North Pole. For them, this is a pretty standard road trip.
