Summary
Since Ronan hesitantly kissed Adam on his birthday things between them have been weird. Not particularly bad, not even wholly different. Just a bit weird. An underlying tension there between Adam and Ronan that didn’t exist before they started whatever this is.
They’ve kissed again, a couple of times, and they’ve lain next to each other when the either needed comfort. Beyond that, however, nothing really changed. Neither of them wanting to take that next step first, the plunge into the no going back territory.
___Adam doesn't want to make the first move because he thinks Ronan isn't ready yet. Ronan's about to die from waiting.

The sudden silence pressed in, too quiet to drown out the thrashing of Adam’s heart. He could feel it in his deaf ear. Had to remember: this wasn’t a stage, it was a classroom. He was in his element here, among all of these pampered students far more privileged and far less prepared than him. He was here for a reason. He was here to show them all how it was done.
Adam dropped to his knees.
