All things considered, it really was a bit much for Hekyll to handle. Being kidnapped during a cagey job he knew better than to take, then having some bastard tadpole shoved up his eye socket before plummeting through the Hells just to end up crash landing in the literal, unknown wilderness. No, he simply wasn't cut out for it. As far as Hekyll was concerned he had one goal, to get this Mindflayer crap out of his head and get back home. The charming Elf with the wicked sense of humour was not going to be a distraction.

Summary
Within the week Lestat—the Lestat, a small part of Daniel can’t help but help but crow—is sitting in Daniel’s apartment, casting his unimpressed gaze over the clutter of Daniel’s human life.
Daniel decides to seize the bull by the horns. “So, where do you want to start? Top ten grievances about the book?”
With his eyes, Lestat manages to convey that a top one hundred would be insufficient to capture the magnitude of Daniel’s literary sins, but with his mouth he says, “I am not here to pick over what has already been said. If that is how Louis sees things, that is how he sees them.”

Their morning cigarette had become their small ritual, one of the few moments of quiet for just the two of them. Once Claudia came into their lives, they agreed to never smoke in front of her, regulating their little trysts to the early morning and late evening while she slumbered down the hall. Louis had tried to quit in the months leading up to her coming home with them, but as it turns out giving up multiple coping mechanisms at once during a time of complete upheaval is not the easiest task. And so their shared cigarette had become a little indulgence that they allowed themselves in the quiet hours of 1132 Rue Royal.
