It was Grian who had chosen to stay by his side, even after he didn’t have to anymore. It was Grian who had sat on the mountain with him, pointing out the stars and naming them.

    It was Grian who had looked at him when they were the only two left, and had said there had to be a winner. It was Grian who had led him back to their mountain, hand in hand, and beat him to death in the shifting sands.

    Grian remembered none of it.

    Patrick hates that smug fucking look on Paul Allen’s face every time he sees it. He hates that smile that screams ‘I think I’m better than you with no real evidence to back that up’, the lax posture that he always holds around Patrick despite the fact that Patrick could execute him with a few quick movements of his wrists. He could. If he wanted to, he could, and oh, god, he tried. He hates how Paul’s mouth quirks up in the corners while he talks to him, so very pleased with himself over the fact that he managed to get Patrick fucking Bateman in his home office, standing stiffly in front of his desk.

    This hit me in the middle of the night and wasn't gone by the morning. Woke up two days later and this was sitting in front of me.
