Summary
Originally just something I wrote years ago that I found more recently. The first chapter is the original short scene that’s turning into more.
Original scene: Cas shows up suddenly with unexplainable injuries, and Dean feels angsty, helpless, and confused.
The rest of the story: Set in Portland, Oregon, Dean spends weeks at Castiel's side as he recovers from severe, unexplainable injuries. It becomes apparent that something has been taken from Cas, and he is no longer what he was. Simultaneously, Dean becomes confused by the strength of the emotions he feels when he fears he might lose Cas. Dean's inner turmoil boils over when it becomes clear that Castiel is interested in more than friendship.
