Summary
Buck is already on his feet, with a smile warm enough to loosen a bit of that awful tension from Eddie’s chest as he spreads his arms out wide. And Eddie literally saw him two days ago but that doesn’t stop him from meeting Buck halfway, closing the distance between them as he throws his own arms tight around Buck, his face fitting perfectly into the crook of his neck.
“I was starting to worry you’d changed your mind,” Buck jokes – but Eddie knows him well enough by now to hear the bit of truth laced in his words. His breath tickles Eddie’s ear and Eddie tries hard not to dip his head and breathe in Buck’s familiar aftershave. Instead, he casts his eyes over Buck’s shoulder, meeting Lucy’s and he’s pretty sure he isn’t imagining the slight glare she’s sending his way.
Whatever.
She’s barely been here a few months, did she seriously think she could replace him that easily?
