Summary
After the 2023 Formula One season ends, Lando Norris spends the off-season trying to distract himself. Monaco is full of parties, alcohol, clubs, and people, which helps at first, but the longer the break goes on, the more obvious it becomes that he’s burning himself out trying not to think about the season too much.
Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri is stuck in England feeling weirdly disconnected from the rest of the grid while everyone else is in Monaco together. So he and Lando keep texting constantly, and eventually the late-night jokes turn into drunk phone calls where Lando sounds more exhausted every time Oscar answers.
After one particularly worrying call from the Monaco harbour, Oscar flies out under the excuse of going to an end-of-year grid party. In reality, he just wants to make sure Lando’s okay. Coincidentally, Oscar has nowhere to stay, but Lando happens to have an extra room.
Between hangovers (so many hangovers), takeaway dinners, late-night walks, and conversations neither of them usually lets themselves have, the winter break becomes something way more personal than either of them expected.
