Wolfwood goes to Inner December for a donut. Is it a waste of an entire day and a literal pain in the ass as he sits on a worn leather seat on a bumping bus? Yeah. Maybe a little bit. But there just aren’t any worthy sources of baked goods in Outer December, and Vash needs a donut.
He probably needs something much more powerful. A doctor. Or a year's worth of uninterrupted sleep. Something. Something that Wolfwood can’t give him, no matter how much he wants to be able to. But he can get him a damn donut.

“Come on,” he says, “Want you on your knees.”
Vash comes, the flush spreading gorgeous down his neck and chest. He drops to his knees in between Wolfwood's spread legs, looking up at him with wide eyes.
Wolfwood pinches the cigarette between his teeth again, blowing smoke out of his nose before reaching down to undo his fly. Vash's eyes zoom comically fast to Wolfwood's crotch and he almost laughs, the breath a smoky exhale.
Vash is so easy to get going, he thinks. He can play at calm and collected but a little teasing always gets him going faster than Wolfwood realizes, and he watches the blown-black pupils of Vash's eyes as they watch Wolfwood fish his cock out of his briefs.
They just sit there for a second, Vash's mouth hanging open slightly, hands clenched into fists on his thighs.
“Be good and keep your hands down there,” Wolfwood says, bumping Vash's calf with his shoes. “Now come on, don't tell me you don't know what to do?”

Summary
Still, Wolfwood's been watching him. It's not something many other people would pick up on, and Wolfwood isn't sure how he feels about that, the way he can track the tension in Vash's frame from the way he holds his glass, from the way his boot kicks against Wolfwood's shoe.
It's getting to be a little too much for him, watching Vash unspool in his own head, too wound up to even enjoy being in a town where everyone wants to talk to him and no one wants to shoot at him. He plucks the glass of whiskey that Vash has barely touched out of his hands and tips the liquid down his throat before setting it on the table.
Vash is, predictably, getting ready to make a huge fuss, eyes gone wide and performative. Wolfwood, on instinct, claps a hand over the back of Vash's neck and squeezes.
“We're done for the night, blondie,” he says in his most no-nonsense tone.
Vash melts under his hand, all the fight oozing out of him. “Okay,” he says, and his voice is quiet, even.
