Summary
Arthur and Alfred, England and America; a relationship with no sides, no beginning or end, no lines to cross. Sometimes love is blush pink: smoking on balconies of Europe, stolen kisses at the country club, morning coffee and the laughter of children. But mostly love is green, green of dollars and hunger and greed; its champagne and coke in hotel bathrooms, its slammed doors and shattered vases, its the smoke of the barrel under the Arizona sun.

Before the victory of the allies, before the United States of America joined the war, before Lend-Lease, before everything — there were just two nations, two men, who just refused to meet halfway until it was forced upon them.

Summary
Arthur Kirkland is a nurse at Labyrinth Penitentiary, a place for dangerous criminals and metahuman superheroes to live out their sentences. It's a more dignified means of paying for his years of crime than rotting in a cell. Arthur despises it but it's a job like any other, a leash he's willing to deal with if it gives him his relative freedom.
That is, until he meets Alfred F. Jones.

Summary
“Can I take off your pants?”
He definitely doesn't shudder at the low, intimate whisper. “I don't know. Can you?”
America pinches him for that. England muffles his moan into the pillow. “Smartass. May I, oh great Professor Kirkland?”
“You may undress me,” England allows graciously, feeling deliciously warm and loose and tingly. America might not often ask for verbal permission, but he always required an answer when he did and it was generally better for all involved that permission be granted before he resorted to more… creative persuasion.
