    “Johnny,” a voice rasped. “It’s Ponyboy. I’m at the phone booth between the lot and the Nightly double.” Pony gasped for air. “I got jumped.”

    Johnny’s heart dropped. “Did- are you hurt bad?” He stuttered.

    “Yeah,” Ponyboy groaned. “Yeah, I- I Need you to come get me Johnny.” He sniffled.

    “Yeah,” Johnny breathed, his heart in his throat. “Yeah I’ll come right now buddy. Hold on.”
