Fate was often throwing wrenches in Daisy’s plans. Sometimes they were good, such as Coulson finding her van or saving Daniel while in the 1950s. Others were devastating, like being controlled by Hive and Lincoln’s death.
Finding three enhanced children in a Hydra facility definitely wasn’t the strangest thing to happen in Daisy’s life but it might be one of the best.

If I didn’t have the love that the color represents. Because I have your mom, and because I love her, I can see red, and appreciate the vibrancy of all the colors.”
Daisy would look down at her gray nightgown, wishing that the wonder in her father’s eyes was also in her own.
“What is it like?” she would whisper, gripping his hand tightly.
He would smile and press a kiss to her forehead. “It’s the most wonderful feeling in the world.”

He didn’t have to.
“Before life happened,” Melinda finished solemnly. “You’re afraid this is her Bahrain.” Her voice was quiet and rough as she looked at him. When he finally looked her in the eye, May suddenly felt very old. And tired. God, she was tired.

After the tumultuous events of the first two seasons of AOS, May takes Skye to a secluded safe house so that she can try to process it all. Nightmares, an exhausting case of food poisoning, and bonding over their complete incompetence in the kitchen leaves the two closer than they ever thought they would be.
A Melinda May & Skye|Daisy Johnson centric fic. Since this is set immediately after the season 2 finale, Skye is referred to as Skye for the majority of the fic.

AU: In Season 7 episode 8, we see May and Yoyo go to Afterlife because Yoyo's powers don't work. What if Daisy's quakes didn't work instead, and she was the one who went with May to seek Jiaying's help?
Daisy had always been self-reliant, keeping her emotions closed behind her walls. Now, after years of trauma and loss, her powers seem to be missing, or at least malfunctioning, after Malick’s torturous treatment. She goes with May to Afterlife for help, resulting in some MayDaisy feels and maybe a confession of their true relationship: A mother and daughter that need each other more than they'll admit.
