Summary
Crowley had disappeared for a while after their stunt in Edinburgh, though it was nothing out of the usual for him and Aziraphale to go a long time without passing by each other. That's why the thought hadn't even occurred to Aziraphale that something may have been wrong- at least not until Crowley shows up on his doorstep 100 years later, looking like he had gone through hell. Crowley won't open up about what happened, but Aziraphale knows that this is far from the demon that he had gotten to know over the millenia.
Aziraphale wants to help more than anything, but he just has to figure out how. Things can't just magically be perfect again, but with enough work they can figure it out together, one step at a time.

Summary
Alec gave her a nod and look of ‘exactly.’ He took a deep breath, getting ready to get up and go back to the office, but the breath stopped him. “Do you smell that?”
Ellie sniffed the air, “yeah, it’s probably just a campf-oh!” she said as she turned around and noticed thick black smoke coming from the cottage on the cliff. “Hardy, we need to go!”
...“You haven’t heard about what’s happening at the cottage on the cliff that that couple just moved into?”
“No, I haven’t. Why? What’s going on?”
The next thing Crowley heard made his blood turn to ice, “It’s on fire.”

Breathe
He can’t stand watching Miller be so much better at this than him. He doesn’t know how to help and keeps asking Trish the wrong questions. Even though they are the only questions he knows how to ask right now. He can’t tell her what he would like to tell her. So, he keeps on asking these bloody, insensitive questions and letting Miller do all the comforting and talking with that stupid soft voice she’s got. He’s mostly just concentrating on trying to breathe and keeping a calm exterior. It's been working quite well so far if he says so himself. It is making him seem a little grumpier than he would like to be at the moment but it's fine, it’s nothing Miller’s not used to from him by now. She’ll get over it even if she looks at him with this sort of motherly disappointed look. Breathe.
Or. A season three rewrite in which Alec deals (tries to avoid) with some past trauma of his and when Ellie finds out about it she's there to help him with it and they become closer than ever.
