Sequel to "With a Friend in the Dark.”
It's been weeks since Buck's cancer diagnosis, and in most ways, things are looking up. The idea of resuming chemo still frightens him, but not nearly as much as it did last time. This time, he has people on his side. But Buck is about to learn that treatment is just the first challenge. Money troubles, identity crises, learning what real love means for the first time at twenty-seven... who knew cancer would be so complicated?
Eddie, meanwhile, is still wrestling with his guilt and anger over how he handled things the first time. Being there for Buck? That's a given. Figuring out what it means to be Buck's friend through his cancer treatments, in the wake of all that's happened between them? That seems a lot trickier. Even more so when Eddie starts to realize that anger and guilt might not be the only feelings he's having.

Summary
Beside Echo, Rex made a harsh, choked noise. In his peripheral vision, he could see him removing his helmet in jerky, stilted movements. Echo removed his as well. He tried to clip his bucket to his belt, but his fingers felt wooden and he missed the clasp so he let it clatter to the ground. Hunter started at the sharp crack of plastoid on metal. Rex didn’t flinch, and neither did Echo.
“What?” asked Hunter, looking between the two of them. “What’s wrong?” Neither of them answered.
“Fives?” Echo rasped finally, stepping forward.

Having met up with Rex and Ahsoka after the fall of the Republic, the Bad Batch and Echo have just one goal: survive. Fives also has one goal - remember who he is.
Together, they have another: save the GAR, or die trying.

Wei Ying abandons her suitcase to investigate the sleeping situation, already coming up with a hundred reasons not to inconvenience Lan Zhan by stealing half of her fucking bed, and then gets a better look at it.
It’s huge. Wei Ying has seen a king bed before, and this is bigger than that. Is that a California King? Is that what those huge-ass orgy beds are called? There are parking spaces smaller than this bed. Wei Ying has lived in apartments smaller than this bed.
“You know,” Wei Ying says thoughtfully, “I’ll level with you. I was gonna volunteer to sleep on the couch, or steal some pillows and blankets and sleep in the bathtub, but then I saw this monstrosity. Lan Zhan, look at this fucking bed.”
Lan Zhan rests her hands on the room divider, her face softly amused. “I am looking.”
“We could tend a whole herd of sheep on this bed,” Wei Ying says, warming to her subject. “We could cross the Pacific Ocean and weather any storm on this bed. Fuck, Lan Zhan, I could stage an entire community theatre production of Chicago on this bed.”
Or: There was only one bed, but that part's fine, actually.
