"My Janosh won't die," he said, with a finality that didn't invite argument.
"Where are Janosh's things?" he demanded, and Adder scoffed.
"You're not going to die, pretty piggy. Your husband will make sure of it."
"Then let Janosh make sure Adder don't die either," he said firmly, and his terrible pretty, terrible stupid husband softened.
"You take care of me all the time," he said gravely. "All I'm good for is this."

Summary
"N-Not," she added hastily, shaking herself out of Skalitz in time to realise that she probably sounded deranged to this woman who'd known nothing but secondhand stories of violence her whole life, "Not that I intend to become some wild assassin!"
"Of course not," Lady Jitka said firmly. "And I wouldn't ask that of you...but it does bring me comfort, to know that I do not ask something impossible of you."
That, of all things, was what compelled Tess to agree in the end. Jitka hadn't shaken old memories out of the thicket just to have something to talk about; rather, she'd hoped that like Henry, Theresa could be trusted with terror, with pain and rage and fear, and rise to it. To conquer it. No other woman could offer what Theresa could, and so she packed what few belongings she had—even now, still compelled to live lightly enough to flee and not miss anything—and followed Lady Jitka to Pirkstein.

Summary
"At least pretend you're sorry," he teased, and Adder whined the way that he knew Janosh liked. "Besides that?"
"I forget—touching yourself is a sin, right?" he asked breathlessly, and Janosh nodded. "Fuck, what's a man supposed to do for fucking fun?" he wondered. Janosh snickered. "That's it."
"Janosh know that's not it, but we can't be here all day," he murmured, his eyes fluttering towards the church door.

Summary
The creature before him was a man, fat and hairy just like Adder liked them, with dark hair and a thick moustache. The tail was real too, and so were the little horns that sprouted from his forehead. "Holy fuck," he murmured, and the creature bit into the sausage.
"Janosh could do better," he said with a thoughtful frown. "But I don't forget you finally pay respects."

Summary
He reached for the silver and flipped a coin into the air, and Janosh's lungs emptied as he watched Brabant's fist dart forward, the steel in his hand glinting in the moonlight as he rammed it towards Adder's open torso. Janosh darted forward without thinking, shoving Žižka out of the way—too late, too late, no way Janosh made it across the yard before the dagger slit through Adder's cheap chainmail that'd already spent the night being battered and slashed at—
Adder reached down and caught the fucker's wrist, hissing out a hoarse laugh. "Fuck, Janosh, you were right," he growled, squeezing until Brabant dropped his knife.

Summary
Hans grabs his bicep, fingers digging into the flesh the way he might test a fruit for ripeness. Henry curls his forearm and makes a fist beneath the water, squeezing tight. He watches Hans' face: the flushed redness of heat and strong drink, the shock as his fingers meet firm resistance.
Hans slides his palm over the wet fabric, pressing hard, testing the edges of the muscle. Henry feels like a horse skittish about being shoed, restrained from bolting only by a strong grip on the bridle.

Summary
"Shall we?”
“We? What d’you mean, we?”
“I mean exactly what I said, you pedantic peasant.” Capon smirks, pleased at his own wordplay, though the smile doesn’t touch the uncertainty in his eyes. “I’ve had more than enough of sitting on my arse. If Zizka’s sending you somewhere, I’m going with you.”
Hans Capon and his squire ride out side by side to track down Hynek the Dry Devil's old band. It'll be just like old times: wine, women, and song. Surely neither of them have changed since they set out from Rattay to deliver a message together. Surely their ironclad bond of friendship isn't starting to crack and give way to new, tender feelings neither of them have the words or inclination to describe.
It's simple brotherly affection that makes them so loathe to leave each other's side, even for a moment. Right?
Or: what if the middle act of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was a 2-player game?

Summary
Hans’s hand on his wrist, his knee on his other arm. Sitting on his chest, pinning him down. The weight of him. Fragments of the real thing. A poor substitute, but something. To touch him again, even if with his fists. Any way. Anything. He says it again, knowing he must seem obvious, but in his beer soaked mind, in this exhausted and drunk body, it makes all the sense in the world for him to say, “We should fight again. Alright? Fight me again.”
Hans looks away. The firelight touches the slope of his throat, shadows collecting under his Adam’s apple. “Henry,” he says. “Stop. I can’t bear this.”
Clenched fists. Dark arenas. The iron taste of blood from a split lip. Henry pulls together fragments, finding a way to get close again after rejecting Hans’s kiss.

Summary
“Baths tomorrow morning,” Hans says. “And you can finish telling me about your monastery adventures. And why it took you so goddamn long to finish your task and return to m—to Rattay.”
Henry takes another sip. “Alright, Sir Hans.”
In the dim glow of light at their table, he can see freckles across Henry’s nose, and some peeling along his hairline from a healing stretch of sunburn. Details he’s missed over the past few weeks. He reaches for him without thinking, then lets his hand drop on the table between them. Henry watches this display with an unreadable expression. A stillness. Outside, the rain continues to fall, loud and clear.
“We must drag Gregor out of you,” Hans tells him.
Henry nods. “Yes. We must.”
Gregor returns from the monastery on a rainy day.
