It was sweet and mildly endearing, enough to pull a hearty laugh out of Evgenia, one that Alina echoed with a nervous, breathless chuckle.
Zhenya had carelessly hooked the offered finger. Added a small, sealing kiss because she was warm and happy and they’d just spent hours watching the men’s free skating together, belly-laughing while tearing the boys apart.
She’d meant nothing particular by it. She was just being pleasant. She was always pleasant. Surely, Alina wouldn’t think much of the significance or veracity of such a juvenile, meaningless thing. (Clearly, now, Evgenia knew she had. Clearly, Alina had stashed it somewhere else entirely.)
