Summary
How was he supposed to process all of this? All he'd wanted to do was spend the day on the couch, watching some tv show he really wasn't interested in, taking his medicine and drowsing as he recovered from the flu. Instead, he'd been told that Tony wasn't his father, that he was just an obligation, an asset to the company, and that Tony didn't love him.
And it hurt. God, did it hurt. Peter wasn't aware of the tears rolling down his already flushed cheeks. He was vaguely aware that he couldn't breathe anymore, but he wasn't sure if that was what he should focus on or if he should focus on the fact that Tony didn't love him.
OR: Peter caught the flu and ends up having a conversation with his grandfather. Tony does his best to deal with the aftermath of that conversation.

Hearing those words, every head in the room whipped around to face Tony, and he looked back at them in bewilderment.
"What? Why are you all looking at me like I kicked a puppy and then denied that I did?"
Natasha stared at him. "Peter hands you things all the time. It's not just Pepper, Rhodey, and Happy."
Tony's expression became even more bewildered if that was possible. "What? No I don't. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed."

He leant closer to his father, who pulled him even closer when he noticed what Peter was doing. Dad’s touch was firm, but incredibly comforting, just like it always was. “You should know his name, he’s your grandson.”
“I’m-” Peter cut in nervously before Howard or Maria could say anything more hurtful. “I’m Peter.”

Tony takes another sip of his peanut butter shake and leans back in the rolling chair, trying not to roll away. He stretches his arms up over his head and listens to his bones crack, and glances down at the time. It’s been thirty minutes since he checked in on Peter and Morgan, which is just enough to make him anxious. Not that he doesn’t trust the kid, he does—but Morgan is seven months old, and babies are scary. He’s surprised Peter even said it was okay to leave him alone with Morgan. Tony was thinking about housing them both in here, in the lab with him, but he still needs to reinforce the actual bubble baby area he was creating before she ripped down one of the walls last weekend.
Babies are scary.
