Summary
"Does it hurt?" The gambler turns his head and looks at his hands, almost surprised, only now noticing that he's torn the skin bloody overnight.
"I don't know," the dissociation is too strong. All he feels is the sensation of his own body rotting - an apple left out in the sun, whose shiny red peel has decayed and turned into something disgusting.
Veritas sighs.
Aventurine stares into his eyes, trying to find disgust, hatred, squeamishness behind the calm and even tone.
Ratio meets his gaze, and Aventurine begins to stare at the ceiling again. He feels like crying from the agonizing shame he seemed to have long ago ceased to feel. Gambler was ready for Veritas to yell at him, tell him how much Aventurine is repugnant and leave.
But he is still here.

Summary
"Was it necessary to bring two suitcases on a three-day trip, peacock?" Veritas asks, dragging his and the gambler's suitcases behind him.
Aventurine turns over shoulder. His pink-blue eyes gleam with mockery through the colored glasses.
"Don't be a buzzkill, doctor Ratio," He chuckles.
"You're insufferable, you know?" He sighes heavily, a slight chuckle flashing across his lips, showing that Veritas isn't serious.
"You too. I'm not sure I can survive three days in the same room with you," He teases. They walk up to the front desk, confirm the reservation and pick up the room key.

Summary
"How long you gonna pretend to be asleep, gambler?" Veritas asks good-naturedly. Aventurine is still trying to keep a calm expression on his face: is he checking or guessing?
"Come on, I knew you were awake when I picked you up, " Ratio says, sitting down on the bed next to him.
Aventurine reluctantly opens his eyes.
"What insight, my dear doctor, " he says with a chuckle.
"Then..why? Why play this game if you guessed it in the first place and could have just told me to stop fooling around?"
Veritas sits with his head turned toward him, the homely, dim light playing in his purple curls. He's so deliciously handsome now, and he doesn't seem at all annoyed by this silly little things.
"Because, my dear gambler, " His fingers slid weightlessly across Aventurine's cheek, stroking his cheekbone with a soft, feather-like touch. "it will never be a burden for me to take care of you"

Summary
"The bed's wide enough for two people. We're both not fifteen to make this awkward," Ratio objects, folding his arms across his chest, "I may be a doctor, but I'm not going to bother with you if you foolishly get sick because of your fantastic idea to sleep on the floor".
"Okay. I'm surprised you actually suggest it," he says the last phrase more quietly, and Ratio can't quite decipher the emotion behind it.
"Just know that I'm not offering this with any unseemly intentions," Veritas's voice softens. The gambler stands with his back to him. Ratio hesitates to look at his face.
"I know. I trust you," he admits abruptly, "Consider it a point of pride, Doc," the sincerity turns to mockery. Because Aventurine is all the masks and the dual weave of sincerity and dishonesty.
"Me too," Ratio says. His voice, more emotional and genteler than always, cuts through the silence, "Now let's go to bed," the sincerity turns to sharpness. Because Ratio is all the truth and the dual weave of shrillness and concern.
