Although Andrew had found Ashley's...absurd over the top infatuation with him abnormal, he believed that this was a result of him having to force himself to raise Ashley when she was a child...when he himself had been one as well. His parents didn’t care about her, so he felt like he didn’t have a choice in the matter.
Despite his expectations, Ashley continued to worsen as she grew older.
But so did he, because as it turns out, this attraction wasn’t as one sided as he thought it was.
