There’s a bundle of squawks and screams, outbursts of panic and anger, and it’s only when Hopper falls forwards to take Steve up into a slightly rough, protective hold, does he realize that two of those shots have lodged themselves in his own flesh and bone. (Realizes that he’d moved, instinctively, to shield El, despite never having spoken to her, who’d the gun had been so precisely pointed at, aimed for.)
Steve Harrington watches his own blood pool and trickle over a series of hands pressed against him, small and large, soft and rugged, and for a moment, wants to stay like this. He can’t.

A year after leaving Hawkins, Will wakes up in the middle of a stormy night to the loudest and fastest knocks he has ever heard—like the person on their porch mistook the wooden door for a public punching bag. Pounding on it as if they had a grudge against it.
Irritated by the disturbance, Will speed walks to the front door, swinging it wide open, hoping that the person on the other side would fall face-first on the floor due to the weight they seemed to put in their punch-knocks.
"What do you want?!" he shouts as he opened the door.
Will Byers felt three things: disappointment, shock, and anger.
But mostly, he was angry.
Angry that Mike Wheeler stood on their porch, drenched from the rain, pale and lifeless.
Mike Wheeler, the guy who cut him off without any warning after leaving Hawkins. Will felt all the resentment toward Mike that he had suppressed over the year begin to leak, so he decided it was better to just close the door, but Mike stops it and pushes his way into their living room.
"It's all your fault," Mike says as he stared fiercely at Will's confused eyes.
Then the wildest thing happens: Mike pulls Will into a freezing, yet passionate kiss.
