Memories of him, Luffy, and Sabo running through the forest flash before his eyes, and nostalgia fills him. The months that the three of them spent together are Ace’s most treasured memories.
He grins, shaking his head and chuckling as he says, “Well, I guess if I’m going to talk about him as a kid, I should talk about my twin first.”

The light overhead isn't from Minion island's overcast sky but instead a steel plated ceiling shining down fluorescence, glass and plastic bottles rattling on shelves against the walls. Everywhere there's monitors and familiar machinery and the distinct tang of antiseptic, sharp beyond the memory sense of blood and snow. For half a second Law looks at it all very blankly and thinks, What The Hell. Is he dreaming. Is he hallucinating. Is he just plain dead. His sight-line completes the rotation of this impossibility to fall upon speckled jeans and a long sweeping coat. And the man standing in front of Law has the blankest expression Law's ever seen. And the man standing in front of Law has Law's father's face.
Underneath Law's blood-slicked fingers, Cora-san's pulse shudders.
(This is a story where the past and the present collide. Wherein thirteen year old Trafalgar Law and twenty-six year old Rocinante tumble sideways through time-space via the blue desperation of a newly eaten devil fruit, from Minion island to a future distant. “A cat?” Garp sounds flummoxed.
A very strange cat that hasn’t left his side since the start of the call. Bogard tunes out Garp’s next words to focus on it. It’s a small thing, looking more like a drowned rat at the moment. Its eyes are closed, frame trembling from the chill of the rain.
Its fur is an unnatural shade of pink.
Bogard’s stomach sinks. “Koby,” he says, cutting off whatever Garp was saying, “he ch’cked in?”
Garp chuffs. “Brat’s with you, isn’t he?”
Goddamn it.
Or: Due to a devil fruit, Koby gets turned into a cat. Shenanigans ensue

He held the orb to the light and watched the magic swirl in the summon. Did Cloud sleep inside, waiting for his call? Or the sense of time vanish within the materia, swept away by the Lifestream?
If he stared hard enough, perhaps he would be able to see Cloud's fluffy hair within the orb. If he polished the surface, maybe he could see the outline of Cloud's magnificent blade among the swirl of power. If he poured his magic into the materia, calling for the summon, maybe Cloud would keep him company. Cloud was more than just a mere summon.
