Summary
When a stranger, bloodied and battered, suddenly knocks on his door and collapses right in front of him, Caelus feels like he has no choice but to bring him in and nurse him back to health. What he didn't expect, however, was to be pulled into a world of lies and betrayal, where Dan Heng's past follows close behind and seems to be tied to the near destruction of the kingdom ten years ago.
After an assassin sent by the king himself to kill Dan Heng and bring Caelus to the Loufu leaves Caelus's home and small village in shambles, he finds he has no choice but to trust the man next to him if he wants to keep his sister safe and the truth about his magic a secret.
And as the tension rises and the situation becomes more and more dire, it becomes increasingly more obvious that Caelus can no longer ignore the tug in his chest that's pulling him closer and closer to Dan Heng, even if the man is not who he claimed to be.
Who knows, his magic might be the key to end it all.

His eyes are closed, there is a cut across his forehead and his shoulder is surely dislocated from his entire weight jostling against it after Sherlock had caught his arm mid-fall. But none of that matters right now as Sherlock cups his cheeks and brings their lips together.

In no universe should he have to witness Mydei’s hand linger on Phainon’s shoulder for a moment longer than what two friends consider proper, and then watch as Mydei flexes his hand right afterwards, clearly so affected by it. Like something straight out of March’s romance novels.
Seriously, Phainon’s eyes had softened when he looked at Mydei. Multiple times. In public! And here Caelus thought eyes could only soften in Jing Yuan fanfiction.
Dan Heng gives him a look. “Phainon and Mydei are good friends. They’re bound to bicker every once in a while.”
Caelus sits up, wholly indignant. “Have you seen them,” he demands.

Caelus stumbles upon one of Dan Heng's logs — except it's not just regular expedition notes. It's a clinical documentation of the thousand years Dan Heng spent searching for him through the memoria tide. A thousand years he never mentioned. A thousand years he was apparently planning to keep to himself forever.
Naturally, Caelus has some feelings about this.
(Or: It takes a millennium-long crisis, March's meddling, and one very flustered confession for Dan Heng to finally say what he means. Caelus is just trying to get his emotionally constipated lizard maybe-boyfriend to stop carrying the weight of the universe alone. Communication happens. Eventually.)
