Jaune steps forward and turns to catch the arrow on his shield, Pyrrha’s training giving him the speed he needs.
The arrow flows around the shield, spiraling back together unimpeded and striking Jaune between the ribs.
There’s the horrible sound of aura tearing and shattering, like a heart shattering into a thousand shards, and Jaune falls.
Jaune steps in to spite destiny. Pyrrha watches, and wishes she had died instead.
Ruby is there for her.
