    Obi-Wan breaks the teapot. The tightness in his chest and a tremor beginning in his hands distracts him. The ornate clay which once formed the vessel lays shattered on the floor. It's beyond repair. Soon the remains of the teapot would be discarded without a second thought.

From then on, a one-sided enmity is born, and Mace goes the rest of his life making decisions based on one question: what would Jinn do? Naturally, of course, he then does the exact opposite. Mace develops Vaapad, trains Depa Billaba and Obi-Wan Kenobi, makes friends with Dooku, and generally does everything he can to kark Qui-Gon Jinn over.

    This was what time-travel is: staring at the dark sockets of skulls everywhere your gaze lands on. Being haunted by ghosts long gone. The apprehension of the slow yet sure approach of the inevitable which is sending chills down your spine.
    And this was why Obi-Wan Kenobi ran away from his quarters—the dimwit face of Qui-Gon Jinn was something he couldn't stand.

    “I am no general.” Obi-Wan said.

    “Yes, you are a scrawny boy who drew a saber on his grandmaster right now.”

    “All right,” exhaled Qui-Gon, “if it is about Melida/Daan—”

    “It is not about Melida/Daan, please, dear master mine, shut up.”
    or
    Yoda tries to comfort Padawan Kenobi about Melida/Daan, he just doesn't know that Obi-Wan takes his words for, uh, a particular Clone War. Nor does he know he is actually 57.

    [Now 3 more unexpected chapters including: undercover school trip to the Senate building with Obi-Wan & Dooku, meddling with galactic politics in grand scales aimlessly, stealing from libraries & other public buildings, haunting feudal planet rulers, Mace Windu being the wholesome person he is, playing dejarik, and duelling miserably, because time-travel has effects.
