The quiet, the emptiness that follows is almost a comfort as you realize that this is it: all the days lived, the smiles had, and the tears shed, all the hurts and all the joy and this, this single moment of nothingness, is it.
The punchline to the cruel joke that was Jackie Taylor’s life, that all the things she thought were important and the things she dismissed as not amounted to the same in the end.
