Summary
At eighteen, each person chooses whether they will be an intellectual or a lover. Intellectuals are responsible for advancing society; it is illegal for them to enter into romantic relationships as it would distract from their purpose. Lovers are everyone else: they can be in romantic relationships, but are not trusted with high-level jobs.
Isak is an intellectual with no desire to be a lover: he knows the dangers of romance and believes he is too smart for it anyway. Even is a lover who thinks the whole system is bullshit, and as it turns out, Isak's best friend is a bit of a revolutionary....

Even doesn't know much about love at first sight, but he thinks that this is pretty close.

Summary
There’s always Isak, the boy in white and silver. And it's easy, you see, it's easy because he already has a road for him laid out. He has gotten his life, even when he hasn't figured out how to live it. He’s never really broken a rule, never stepped out a foot away from his picket fence box despite the desire he has for it to splinter around him.
And then there’s Even, the boy in black and gold. Who wrecks the picket fence box like a tornado, and promises to take Isak’s heart with it.

“…Okay, not a boyfriend, and not a relative…” Eskild says slowly, still looking very confused. “So… Even’s a childhood friend then?”
Isak wants to say no, no, they are not childhood friends. But most friends don’t sleep in the same bed six days a week, so he swallows his words and nods reluctantly. “Yeah. We’re childhood friends.” It’s almost true except for the friend part.
Isak and Even meet as children, but it takes them a while to become friends. It takes them a little longer to become more.

Summary
To cheer Isak up from the rumors of his sexuality, his boys take him to Bakka house party. Isak is trying to enjoy the party when he spots Emma, the source of the rumors in the first place. Ducking into the kitchen to hide, he meets Even for the first time.
They share a joint, a conversation about sexuality and Even helps Isak confirm Emma’s suspicions.
It’s one hell of a way to come out, but as Even presses his lips against Isak’s, Isak finds himself more than okay with it.
