Summary

“Looks like I bit you.” Will tilts his head to get a better look. All Mike can do is stare at him. His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'

As they approached the driveway, Mike finally spoke up. “Hey, uh, Will. Can I ask you something?”
Will bristled a bit in surprise. “Yeah, of course, Mike.”
They reached the front porch and stopped. Normally Mike would be pulling out his keys right about now, but he turned to face Will and took a deep breath before continuing.
“Eleven didn’t commission the painting, did she?”

[Takes off right after S5, Vol. 1, Ep. 4]
Will no longer questions whether he is “allowed” to look at Mike the way he does, or whether someone will discover how “rotten” he is for feeling his heart flutter whenever Mike looks back. He isn’t afraid whether Mike likes him or not, it doesn’t matter. Will likes MIke, and that reality is his alone to carry, not Mike’s. He doesn’t regret the moment he first realised his feelings, because that moment was special. That belongs to Will, and no one can take it from him. Not even Mike.
Mike, on the other hand, tries to act nonchalant, but it’s hard to hide his urge to stand up, hunt Robin down, and… what will he even say to her?
That Robin.
Who does she think she is? She can’t just hang around Steve all the time, and suddenly, when Will finally lets loose, and shows his fun side to people who are not Mike, Lucas, and Dustin, she swoops in and takes up space in his life like she’s earned it. That’s not fair.

His brain finally catches up with Mike’s words, and Mike is saying things like, “C’mon, Will—you can do it,” and “I’m so proud of you,” and “Don’t rush, it’s okay.” In the softest tone imaginable, and if Will maybe pretends to still be a little more out of it than he actually is just to keep hearing Mike talk to him like that—well, that’s his business.
