Eugenides gets engaged to Princess Irene of Attolia. Political intrigue juxtaposed with occasional childish hijinks and Irene not being lonely. Eventual romance.
This was inspired by a much happier AU, but for some reason I made it dark by including all of the things that were revealed in Return of the Thief, like how Gen might actually be illegitimate, or how a lot of grown men voted to kill him because of that, or how his grandfather forced him to kill someone when he was a child. So be prepared for that.
